Dentures are the prosthetic dental appliances that are actually removable false teeth set. You might think dentures are applicable for aged persons only because their teeth are weak and they are edentulous. Right?

Are the teeth replacement treatments essential for aged people alone? Definitely NO.

Irrespective of aging, persons with poor dental care will become edentulous even in their adulthood. Recent stats show that around 23 million people in India wear full dentures and 12 million people have partial dentures.

Less care on dental health or skipping oral complications rave the teeth to get extracted or fall down. This pushes the sufferer to get dentures or other teeth restoration treatments.

Here are the 5 signs that warn your teeth are in weak condition and need to be replaced with dentures.

1.Swollen, tender and bleeding gums

Bleeding Gums

Gum disease is one of the main culprits behind tooth loss. Dentists state that about 70%  of teeth loss in adults is due to untreated periodontal diseases. Tenderness, red spots and bleeding in gums are the main symptoms of infection in gums.

The gum infection begins to deteriorate and weaken the bone support over a period of time. It leads the teeth to fall down and to be pulled out due to infection. This necessitates dentures.

2. Loose teeth

Loose tooth

Untreated gum diseases progress to infect the tooth root. This lessens the bone support of the tooth. It results in loose teeth, shift in the teeth position and the space between the teeth becomes wider.

Oral bacteria take advantage of the large spacing in the dentition and make the infection worse.

3. Constant teeth pain

Many people ignore toothache because it is a common dental complication. In contrast, intense pain in a tooth or chronic tooth pain is a symptom that indicates the decay in the tooth is progressed.

In such cases, the infection penetrates the region beyond the tooth nerves and even Root Canal Therapy(RCT) cannot preserve the tooth. Extracting the decayed teeth is the only way to prevent infection.

This pushes the patient to get Dentures or other teeth replacement treatments to restore the extracted teeth.

4. Missing multiple teeth

Missing multiple teeth

The teeth lost due to physical injuries or removed due to infection are powerful to put the remaining teeth at risk of fall down. In such cases, you need to get prosthesis like Dentures or Dental Implants to restore them.

Otherwise, the remaining teeth have to work harder and endure much pressure. Similarly, missing teeth make the adjacent teeth to move or shift.  Such effects make the remaining teeth also vulnerable to fall down.

5. Difficulty in chewing

Difficulty in Chewing

When a person has an infection in teeth, missing teeth or loose teeth, then he/she cannot efficiently chew certain food particles. If one did not swallow a food particle without chewing well, it would cause indigestion. This is followed by acid reflux.

The acidic compounds brought from the stomach by acid reflux are powerful to weaken the teeth enamel. It also leads to lose more teeth.

Conclusion

No one wants to lose teeth and replace them with removable false teeth.

If you do not want to lose your teeth, you should take care of your teeth by shielding them with proper oral hygiene practices to stand away from bacterial infections.

Make semi-annual dental visits as a part of your dental care practices. It will help you to identify the infections and resolve them at the initial stage through your Dentist.
