Natural mouthwashes you can prepare at home
You may think mouthwash kills all the bacteria in your mouth and keep your mouth healthy. Yes, it kills them indiscriminately, but remember only a few of the bacteria in your mouth are harmful that causes illness and cavities. The rest of the bacteria are naturally present and it will act as the first life of defense against pathogens. If you kill all of them it will affect your immunity and cause a hole in it leaving something else to fill. Some people use it for bad breath, it is like spraying perfume to your unwashed shirt. Instead, you have to find a solution. You can prepare the homemade natural mouthwashes that can help you a lot in your oral hygiene. Here are some homemade mouthwashes.
1) Quick antibacterial mouthwash
Boil half an ml of water and cool down the water. Add one tablespoon of baking soda, five drops of mint essential oil and five drops of tea tree essential oil. Put everything in a bottle and shake it before use. Take one tablespoon of mouthwash you made and gargle in your mouth. You can prepare this mouth wash within 1 to 2 minutes.
2) Apple cider vinegar
Take two to three tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, one cup of saltwater and vanilla essential oil in a bowl and fill it in a bottle. Shake the bottle and swish your mouth with this solution.
3) Cinnamon and clove mouthwash
Boil some amount of water and add ten to fifteen drops of cinnamon and clove oils. Stir it well and store them in a bottle. This is one of the best mouthwashes that can be stored for a long time. They can remove your bad breath quickly.
4) Gingermint mouthwash
Here you require following ingredients:
- Ginger
- Peppermint
- Turmeric
- Cinnamon
Add everything with two to three cups of water and boil it with low flame. Heat it for a long time to get a stronger flavor. Strain it in a glass jar or bottle. Use it as a mouthwash.
Here ginger is naturally antibacterial and peppermint is good for teeth and gums. Turmeric is anti-inflammatory and fight against gum diseases. Cinnamon also contains both antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that give spiciness and better flavor. They too remove bad breath quickly.
5) CoconutMint Mouthwash
Ingredients:
- Coconut oil ( 3 tablespoons)
- Himalayan pink salt (half teaspoon)
- Baking soda (quarter teaspoon)
- Peppermint oil (2 drops)
Take all these ingredients and add to warm water. Mix in a glass container and shake it well. Shake it before every use. Keep it away from sunlight, but coconut solidifies in cold condition, hence place the glass jar in warm water to melt the coconut.
6) Aloemint mouthwash
Ingredients:
- Aloe Vera juice (1 cup)
- Baking soda (2 teaspoon)
- Pink Himalayan sea salt (quarter teaspoon)
- Peppermint oil (2 drops)
Add the ingredients to one cup of warm water and mix it. Store it in a glass container and shake it well. Shake before every use. You can keep it in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.
7) Rosemary mint
Ingredients:
- Fresh mint leaves (2 tablespoons)
- Rosemary leaves (1 and half tablespoon)
- Anise seeds (1 and half tablespoon)
Add everything to four cups of boiled water and cool it down. Use this solution to gargle your mouth.
8) Neem mouthwash
Ingredients:
- Neem herbal extract (4 tablespoons)
- Tea tree oil (5 drops)
Add the ingredients to two cups of purified water and gargle your mouth for two to three minutes daily in the morning and night. They remove bacteria that produce cavities.
9) Triphala mouthwash
- Take forty to fifty grams of Triphala powder.
- Mix the powder in water of about 1 liter and boil it.
- Leave the water till it reduces to 250 ml.
- Cool it down and keep it in a clean sterilized bottle.
- Take 20 to 50 ml as per your need and use it as a mouthwash for two to three times per day.
They help in curing wounds or ulcer in the mouth.
